2026 Honda Civic Hybrid

Performance 

The Civic Hybrid features a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle inline 4-cylinder engine, paired with two electric motors, which together produce a total of 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque. All Hybrid models are front-wheel drive and feature a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which provides smooth, effortless driving that maximizes efficiency and performance. 

When tested by Car and Driver magazine, the Civic Hybrid sedan reached 60 mph in just 6.2 seconds, which makes it faster than the sportier Civic Si. The standard Sport Hybrid trim features a 3-mode switch that enables drivers to tailor their driving experience to Normal, Sport, or Econ modes. The top-of-the-line Sport Touring Hybrid trim gets an Individual mode that allows owners to program specific functions and save them to their profile for quick selection. 

The EPA estimates that the 2026 Civic Hybrid sedan will achieve 50 mpg in city driving with 47 mpg when on the highway, with a combined average of 49 mpg.** The hatchback gets 45 mpg on the highway for a combined average of 48 mpg.*** Not only is the Civic Hybrid powerful and fast from stoplight to stoplight, but it is also incredibly economical, making it a no-brainer for all types of car buyers. 

Exterior 

With a styling update for 2025, the 2026 model continues the sportier and more aggressive front fascia and grille design introduced in the previous year, along with darker taillights for a more intense look. Exclusive to Hybrid models is body-color headlight adornment, with Sport Touring models receiving standard LED headlights. 

All Hybrid models come standard with 18-inch wheels, which are gloss black on base Sport trims and offer matte shark gray inserts on upper Sport Touring trims. 

The Civic Hybrid sedans are available in seven different exterior paint options, while the hatchback model offers eight colors, including Crystal Black Pearl, Solar Silver Metallic, Rallye Red, Meteorite Gray Metallic, Boost Blue Pearl, Platinum White Pearl, Sand Dune Pearl, and Urban Gray Pearl.

Interior 

The interior of the Civic Hybrid is a wonderful place to be, with sedan models offering 96.6 cubic feet of interior volume and 14.8 cubic feet of trunk space. Hatchback models have the same passenger volume as the sedan but with 24.5 total cubic feet of cargo space when the rear seats are up.

Both trim levels have plenty of room for both front and rear passengers, with those measurements listed in inches below: 

• Headroom F/R – 37.6 / 37.1 
• Legroom F/R – 42.3 / 37.4 
• Shoulder Room F/R – 57 / 56 
• Hip Room F/R – 54.3 / 48.9 

All models come standard with a moonroof, heated front seats, and dual-zone climate control. Sport models feature cloth seats with Sport Touring trims offering leather seats.  

Technology 

Regardless of the trim level buyers select, the Civic Hybrid features great technology that all passengers will appreciate. Standard on Sport models is a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a powerful eight-speaker, 180-watt sound system. Stepping up to the Sport Touring trim gets buyers a 9-inch touchscreen with a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system that includes a subwoofer. Both models offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Bluetooth streaming. The Sport Touring model additionally features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. USB-C ports are now standard for the driver and front passenger.

Sport Touring models also feature Google Built-In, which includes Google Maps, Google Voice Assistant, and more, available via the Google Play Store. Buyers will receive a 3-year data plan to use the services free of charge. This affords drivers the ability to simply speak to Google to ask for directions, make phone calls, get information, and more.

Safety 

Thanks to Advanced Compatibility Engineering, or ACE, the 2026 Honda Civic has a body structure that makes the vehicle safer in collisions. Honda redesigned the front airbags to reduce the potential for severe brain trauma in the event of certain front impacts. The driver’s airbag uses a donut-like design to help surround the head and reduce the possibility of head and neck rotation. The front passenger airbag has been engineered with a three-chamber design that helps to achieve the same reduction of head and neck rotation as the driver’s airbag. All models come standard with front, side impact, knee, and side-curtain airbags.

Also standard on the Civic Hybrid are equipped with a suite of Honda Sensing safety features that include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Information with Cross Traffic Monitoring, and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) incorporating Lane Departure Warning (LDW).
