The 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport has been a hit with the automotive media since its introduction. They loved how we transformed our two-row mid-size SUV into something worth taking on an adventure so much, a few publications found it difficult to bid their test cars farewell.

Take The Drive, for example. Editors at the automotive site recently racked up 13,000 miles on their 2026 Passport TrailSport Elite, all the while praising Passport’s available technology, the ample interior space and capacity, and “long-term value and reliability.” The Drive concluded the 2026 Passport Trailsport Elite “strikes an ideal balance between  practicality, personality, comfort, and off-road skills.

Meanwhile, MotorTrend has used their 2026 Passport TrailSport Elite for a year now. Recently, editors used it as a support vehicle for a story that took them into the wilds of Alaska – and after that challenging trek, they concluded it’s more than earned the TrailSport badge.

You don’t have to be an esteemed automotive expert to see how compelling the Passport Trailsport is. It all starts with a stylish yet purposeful design, incorporating an upright fascia with a bold grille and distinctive LED lighting elements. Short overhangs, coupled with a 23-degree front approach angle, help when venturing off the beaten path, as does the Trailsport’s ample 8.3-inch ground clearance and protective steel skid plates. The 2026 Passport TrailSport model is also equipped with all-terrain tires, unique spring rates and dampers, stronger stabilizer bars, and reinforced recovery points.

There’s plenty of available performance, too, thanks to a 285-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 paired with an efficient ten-speed automatic transmission. Like all Passport models, that power is sent to all four wheels through the trick i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system, which has been carefully engineered to distribute power effectively, even when the going gets tough.

When you’re off the highway, the 2026 Passport TrailSport has plenty of tools to keep you going. Enabling Hill Descent Control can also help you safely manage vehicle speed when descending a steep slope. The 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster screen features Trail Info, which provides navigation-based data you need, including elevation, pitch, roll, and a compass to point you in the right direction.

While Passport’s 12.3-inch color touchscreen is great for the available Google Built-In based apps and wireless smartphone connectivity, TrailSport Elite models can also leverage a multi-view camera system, which provides a 360-degree look at your surroundings. Further, the TrailWatch functionality can provide a clear view of what’s ahead and underneath the Passport’s nose, allowing the driver to pick the best off-road line without stepping foot from behind the wheel.

And should you spend more time on the highway than the back country, you’re in luck – the 2026 Passport TrailSport doesn’t exchange everyday compliance or creature comforts for its off-road chops. With plenty of room for up to five people and 44 cubic feet of cargo simultaneously (104 cubic feet, should you fold the rear seats flat), the Passport Trailsport is a great people mover for short and long drives alike.
