From the new upright exterior design to the proven and powerful V6 engine and i-TVM4 all-wheel drive system, the 2026 Passport was created to go anywhere – including through the Sierras and across Northern Nevada.

In joining the chorus of many automotive media outlets that have tested this rugged and gentle SUV, MotorTrend heaped a lot of praise upon the 2026 Passport. In their words, they “praised the blend of off-road charisma and on-road comfort, a combination that proved surprisingly rare among its peers. Unlike traditional body-on-frame off-roaders, the unibody Passport doesn’t punish you with jittery, unsettled motions on pavement. Instead, it delivers a composed, agreeable ride that makes the daily grind feel natural.

The purposeful design begins with an upright front fascia that offers ample air intake through two bold grilles and active shutters. It also yields a 23-degree front approach angle, along with shorter overhangs at the front and rear, and an 8.3-inch ground clearance to handle anything in its way. Under the hood is a 285-horsepower 3.5-liter V6, driven through a ten-speed automatic transmission and the i-TVM4 All-Wheel Drive system, which distributes power effectively across various surfaces and conditions.

Hill Descent Control is designed to manage braking when descending from a climb. You are also treated to a quieter ride wherever you roam, whether it is off or on the highway.

This year, Honda offers two TrailSport models available on the 2026 Passport. That means you get all-terrain tires, improved spring rates, damper valve tuning, stronger stabilizer bars, and robust recovery points. The engine bay is protected by thick steel skid plates that shield it from loose rocks and untamed terrain below. TrailSport Elite models feature the new TrailWatch Camera system, providing a clearer view of what’s ahead, along with tire placement guides to help navigate the most challenging obstacles.

They said, “Honda’s ambition went beyond just trail toughness, though; it also designed the Passport with daily commuting in mind, delivering a level of comfort and civility contrasting its rough-and-ready image. This dual nature—hardcore when you want it, easygoing when you need it.” They summarized it all by stating that the 2026 Passport is “seriously good.”
