There was a time when our vehicles would hit 100,000 miles on the odometer and would start falling apart. Some owners would trade in their vehicles sooner in their lifecycle – sometimes every three years. This is not the case anymore. Automobiles are now built for durability with components that can last well beyond 100,000 miles with regular maintenance. The new benchmark for vehicle longevity is now 250,000 miles.
Autoweek compiled a list of 30 vehicles that will most likely reach the 250,000-mile mark in their lifespan. They analyzed 402 million vehicles. Six Honda vehicles appeared on this list. Next to their model names is the percentage of vehicles on the road with 250,000 miles or more on the odometer:
Honda Ridgeline – 25.8%
Honda Pilot – 17.5%
Honda Accord – 16.6%
Honda CR-V – 13.9%
Honda Accord Hybrid – 13.1%
Honda Odyssey – 11.5%
Why are these vehicles singled out for their durability? An iSeeCars executive analyst, Karl Brauer, told Autoweek, “Many consumers still consider a car’s usable lifespan to end at 100,000 miles. But our latest, longest-lasting study confirms that even 200,000 miles isn’t the end of the line for many cars. The top nine cars on this year’s list have a better than 20% chance of hitting 250,000 miles.” Including the six Honda models that made this list.

What makes a Honda last by racking up the miles comes down to how it is built. Executing excellent build quality is one of the top priorities at Honda. They must be engineered for the long term through design and the use of the best available materials.
The Ridgeline is a result of this work. The unibody pickup truck was developed to do the job by offering class-expected payloads while towing up to 5,000 pounds. The Ridgeline also offers unique features that add more utility to our pickup truck. That includes the lockable In-Bed Trunk and the two-way tailgate.
Built on the same platform as the Ridgeline, the Pilot and Odyssey are made for family transportation. They are built for durability in every seat inside these vehicles. Not only will they last a long time, but they will also still keep their occupants comfortable along the way.
Owners love the CR-V for its versatility, allowing them to do anything while covering the miles. It is no secret that you will see every generation of our compact SUV still on the road today. Some of which may have more than a couple of hundred thousand miles on their odometer.

Both the Accord and Accord Hybrid are a result of 50 years of excellence. Each generation builds upon the other by advancing its design, enhancing what’s underneath the hood, and delivering a straightforward driving experience for everyone on board.
Once a vehicle leaves our dealership, the owner is provided with guidance on maintaining their vehicle on schedule, from oil changes to major maintenance visits. A well-maintained vehicle will last for hundreds of thousands of miles.
